Our assessment center process involves candidates participating in a series of job-related activities/exercises designed to provide evidence of certain characteristics important (if not essential) to successful job performance. In today's diverse and educated firehouse workforce, a Fire Chief needs as much accurate information on which to base their decisions with respect to selecting officers. Our process provides Fire Chief's with more complete data than they ordinarily gather from personal interviews, annual employee evaluations, educational and/or training records, and written or oral examinations alone. Having competent officers is critical to the overall effectiveness of a fire department. Our assessment center process will identify those individuals who are looking to maximize the potential of their subordinates and make decisions based on the best interest of their fire department. Our job related activities/exercises are selected and critical skill dimensions are determined based on a concensus decision, involving the consultant, fire department administration, and human resources after consideration and concurrence on actual/applicable job requirements.
